Most of filtering technics uses textile fabrics. The filtering fabric is the essential part of the filter : it has to stop the smallest ellements while creating an as low as possible pressure loss.
Its characteristics have to be adapted to its specific usage, it means to the equipement it is installed in and to the product to filter and to work within severe constrains (high temperatures, acid or alcalin PH, use of solvant....).

Each type of fabric may receive specific finishing treatments : heatsetting, glaze surfacing by heat calendering to push the limits. or reduce to the maximum the stickyness of cakes on fabrics.
